What's in my bag??

One of my many groups of tools of the trade...  My bag of crochet tools!

I made the bag and sewed in a liner so the hooks and stuffs wouldn't fall out. It's looking a little worn and raggedy... probably because I take it everywhere. It's like a blanky or something. It keeps my hands busy on trips and stuff (like going up to visit the in-laws... of course I'm not the one driving while I'm crocheting. Hubby is!)

Ready to know what I carry around in there?
Are you??

Ok. Here it is in all it's glory! At the top is a brush I use for making pompoms (you brush the yarn fibers out to make them fluffy!!!).

Below that (starting at the left) is a cutting pendant. It's a necklace that has little razors in the design so you can cut the yarn/thread/whathaveyou (I've cut my hair by accident with this too. I went to take it off and it caught part of my bangs. *sadface*)

Next to the pendant sit the hooks! Can't crochet without the crochet hooks! All of them except my E hook which is currently residing at work with a project. I used to get blisters from working too long with the hooks because of the way I hold them. I got some gooshy grips around the beginning-of-school time when everything is on sale and then got some plastic tubing from Home Depot and kinda put them together to get them to be comfy (without going and buying a whole new set of hooks).  I found a tutorial on youtube, so if you want to do this for yourself go here ! Go go go!

Next you have a little case I worked up to store all my tapestry needles (used to sew in the loose ends of a project or to sew parts together).

Then the bag... to hold everything.

Below that (starting at the left again!) is a little tiny box with stitch markers. They do as the name suggests...

Next to that are some rulers. Measuring length comes in handy. Gauge or length for a garment or...

Then come the row counters. If you are making a large project, they are nice to have. That way you don't have to try to count stitches and keep track of rows. Or go back and count it every three rows... which is not fun. Trust me. It's very time consuming. Especially when you get up around 100 rows. Bleh.

Finally, below them are some little scissors. They are nice for cutting the stuff you don't really want to/can't cut with the pendant. Examples: Felt (eyes, cute little appliques, etc.), fabric (again.. eyes, cute little appliques, etc.), the woven in end of the yarn that you want cut close to the work and you don't want to pull too much on the work.  That last one doesn't happen too often, but sometimes it's useful.

What do you think?

I would love to hear from you!
